An opportunity has risen for a Shutdown Manager Service to join in the shutdown team with our client to deliver projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the shutdown events across both manufacturing areas of the site (typically 4 per year with a duration of around 10 days each event). The emphasis will be on improving systems and developing the team to ensure both the preparation and execution phases of the shutdowns are optimised. You will manage and coordinate all aspects of engineering shutdown activities on and off plant, whilst ensuring safe systems of work and cost-effective planning are implemented. Responsibilities: Manage a significant change programme to implement a cross site shutdown team. Deliver the plant shutdowns to agreed timescale and budget. Drive and develop the shutdown preparation, planning, scheduling and execution systems. Ensure work packs are produced to a high standard and are concise, clear and help minimise the risk of human error. Be responsible for leading the shutdown team to ensure job packs are produced and all Risk Assessments are reviewed in a timely manner. Manage, motivate and develop the shutdown team to ensure required competence levels and efficiency of work. Specifically coordinate efforts to optimise the schedule to carry out the required work in the minimum outage time. Produce cost accounting report for each shutdown event in advance, measure actuals and work on a continuous improvement programme to optimise costs. Identify manning requirements for each outage, manage the supply of labour from both the main on site contractor and additional / alternative service providers. Provide weekly progress/update reports, whilst liaising with key plant personnel to ensure all statutory inspections and major threats are addressed in the most appropriate outage. Lead post event reviews to identify and implement improvements. Comply with all site standard work requirements (EHS investigations, EHS actions, EHS tools, Leadership interactions, Safety Crosses, Tier Process, Process Confirmations etc). Ensure that the site Management of Change process is implemented fully for relevant shutdown work and develop a robust quality control management system for all engineering work. Requirements: This project is on a top tier COMAH plant and the following minimum qualifications, experience and skills are required from the supplier: HNC qualification in relevant engineering and 5 years of experience in a senior shutdown management role. You will have extensive experience of managing a multi discipline engineering team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and be fully familiar with piping systems, pressure vessels, rotating equipment and lifting equipment. Being able to influence at all levels in the organisation and experience of managing a complex change programme are essential requirements for this role. The successful candidate will also be familiar with shutdown planning and scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 /Microsoft Project and ideally have direct experience using SAP PM planning.
