Our client is looking for candidates to join their team in Manston, supporting and guiding vulnerable details who are seeking asylum, whilst the Home Office conduct their initial immigration screening checks. We want to provide a stress- and worry-free environment for those, who are likely in the first 24 hours of detention. As a Detention Custody Officer, you will accommodate those from everchanging populations and a variety of backgrounds. Within the role you will be working in an environment that provides an Empathetic trauma-informed security service. You will also be responsible for the individuals whilst they are being interviewed. The Responsibilities within this role include, but are not limited to: • Working with our operational team to create a safe, secure and friendly environment where detainees can access support and services • Build strong relationships with detainees to ensure they feel supported, guided in the right direction and understood whilst in our care • Ensure that all detainees are able to communicate with our partners and receive help and support; whether this be medical, welfare, faith or cultural provisions they require • Operate regular transfer to allow for the Home Office processing of asylum and immigration claims They are not looking for candidates that tick every box, all they ask is that they re able to support, empathise with and reassure vulnerable people. Ensuring they are a kind, compassionate individual who is adaptable to changing needs and priorities and has great communication skills. Should you be successful at shortlisting, you will need to be available to attend an assessment centre on either 27th or 28th September at Gravesend, in which travel expenses will be reimbursed to you on the day, upto the value of £50. (Milage will be from your home postcode plus £5 for parking or a receipt will be required for public transport) (Please be aware the location is for interview purposes, but your employment will be based at Manston) If you are successful in the recruitment process, your role will also involve completing a 4-week initial training course which includes de-escalation and Control & Restraint training. You would need to be prepared to restrain someone in detention as a last resort. This role is a permanent, full-time position, where the site operates 24/7. You would be required to work a rolling rota which covers 4 nights on, 4 nights off, with the working hours of 20::00, averaging at 40 hours per week.
